The Reason For This Blog

As a young gay man living in Chicago in the current times, I have it pretty easy. The hardest part of my life is reconciling my religious beliefs with my sexuality and dealing with a church that still hasn't accepted me. I am lucky. I don't think lucky begins to describe how good I have it. So, in attempt to not let history go without anyone remembering, I plan to chronicle the lives of great gay men and women who gave their livelihood, their dreams, and in many cases their lives that in hopes one day a world could exist were all men are created equal. On this quest for the stories of men and women for gave of themselves for me, I will also tell the stories of ordinary people who lost their lives, either at their own hands or the hands of another due to the lack of love and acceptance in the world they lived in.
